There was this 44-year-old homeless man from Thailand who only had few coins in his pocket which cannot even buy him decent food. He was later known as Woralop who found a designer wallet full of credit cards and 20,000 baht or a total of $580 at a subway station but instead of buying himself food, he didn’t even pick any money nor be tempted to keep the money by himself. He was admired by many people because the amount of money he found can actually feed him for weeks but he still chose on returning it to the rightful owner. He decided to turn over the wallet to the police station.
It turned out that the wallet which was found by him was owned by Niity Pongkriangyos who is a 30-year-old factory owner. He was surprised that a jobless and homeless man would actually return the wallet full of money to its owner when he can eventually have it and spend it all he wants. “If it was me in that position, I probably would have kept it,” Pongkriangyos quipped.
Pongkriangyos also believed in the saying, “Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.”
Because he doesn’t want to give the honest man a monetary reward alone, he decided to give him a job and a service apartment that he can call his home. Before, Woralop doesn’t have a decent home and a job but now already has a nice bed and a secured home to sleep in at night – and he also earns 11,000 baht ($317) a month which is about half as much as the money he found in that wallet! It is all because of his honesty that he gets to enjoy a better life and work hard for the money he will soon earn.
