The public was amazed as this Cebu student wears a real chicken for his “Sarimanok costume”

Last month many of us celebrated the Filipino Language Month or most commonly known as “Buwan ng Wika”. A lot of students and schools prepared various activities for the month long celebration of our Filipino language. This year’s theme for “Buwan ng Wika” is “Wikang Katutubo: Tungo sa Isang Bansang Filipino”. A lot of people were surprised to see the witty costume of this Cebu student who stood up among the rest because of his “headdress” in his traditional Sarimanok-inspired costume.

The student who shared the viral video was later known as Janelle Sandoval from the University of the Visayas in Dalaguete, Cebu. On her trending video, a male student wearing a Maranao Legendary Bird costume was also wearing live chicken for her headdress. The viral video was shared by the friend of Janelle named Marlou Sanoy II last August 29 and now garnered more than 399,000 views on Facebook.

The public was really amazed that he have an alive chicken on his head trying to balance and would sometimes flap its wings that surprised a lot of his audience. According to some report, Janelle choose to borrow his father’s bantam chicken as he needed a headdress to complete his attire an hour before his performance. He was also very grateful to all the people who admire and praised his unique costume and to all the people who shared his videos and photos online.

Social media nowadays had so many beneficial effects to people all over the world. It is not just about communicating with families and friends far from home but it is also a tool to showcase talents and skills of people as well as the admirable things many people do to share happiness and good vibes to many people.

Good job to this Cebu student who added something new to the usual tradition of celebrating the “Buwan ng Wika”.
