It was in May 2016 when a photo of a 13-year-old Bagjao girl made round in different social media platforms. She was later known as Rita Gaviola, whose photos went viral as she was asking alms in Lucban, Quezon during the Pahiyas Festival.
She may be wearing dirty clothes with her hair unfixed but many people really saw something in her. Her striking looks and features as well as her innocence and talking eyes seems to capture the public’s attention and the hearts of many. Even some famous celebrities were also curious about this famed “Badjao Girl”.
Those photos that went viral online opened a lot of doors and so much opportunities for her. She was starting to accept offers in some television shows, advertisements, and even in modeling. She even became a part of the popular reality television show in ABS-CBN network, “Pinoy Big Brother” where she became as the youngest contestant of the show. Though, it didn’t take her long to be inside the house, a lot of opportunities came her way after she exited the “Pinoy Big Brother” house. It became her biggest break and became an instant celebrity from then on.
And now, she is no longer the same “Badjao Girl” as before because she is now a more determined and hard-working young lady who was also an inspiration to many other people out there. Before, they were experiencing a lot of struggles and difficulties in life. But because of her television stints, she was able to provide and support her family. She was also pursuing her dreams of becoming a teacher as she is still studying and helping other people especially the Badjao community to be inspired and to dream so many things just like she did and she would almost achieve it because of her hard work and commitment.
She is currently a part of the Kapuso television series “Sahaya” which is top-billed by Kapuso young actress Bianca Umali.
