In order to end the malnutrition in Marikina, the local government re-implements “Nutribun Program”

Malnutrition is the lack of proper nutrition, caused by not having enough to eat, not eating enough of the right things, or being unable to use the food that one does eat. Many Filipino people already knew that malnutrition really affects a lot of people especially young children.

That is local government made its way to implement again the “Nutribun Program” for the young Filipino students and to end malnutrition in our country as well. And now, Marikina City already re-implemented the “Nutribun Program” in schools according to Marikina City Mayor Marcy Teodoro. Almost 21,000 public school children of Marikina will benefit from the said project. The initiative aims to end the malnutrition in Marikina city by next year as the city mayor stated.

“We want all children in the city to be healthy and happy by providing them proper nutrition. That’s why I came up with rviving the Nutribun Program for 21, 000 Kinder and Grade 1 public school children,” Marikina Mayor Marcelino Teodoro said. He also said that the local government of Marikina was targeting zero malnutrition and the “Nutribun Program” is the key to attaining the goal.

“We have monitored cass of malnutrition in schools. Sa public schools maraming under nourished, kaya ang intervention namin ay feeding program. We found out na ang ibang bata ay walang mga baon kaya wala silang makain na masustansya,” Mayor Teodoro further explained as he notes that malnutrition is a serious concern.

Level of nutrition of children really has effects on their school performances. He also added that the Nutribun of Marikina City is consists of malunggay, squash, eggs, and flour and together with milk, it will be the best for a growing child. The children will be weighed after 120 days of undergoing the Nutribun Program. Their school performance will also be assessed.
