Effective saving tips from celebrity couple Maricar Reyes and Richard Poon earned massive comments from the netizens!

Believe it or not, our everyday expenses on food, transportation, education, household bills, savings, and other miscellaneous expenses really has a big difference than before. That is why many Filipino families do everything for them to save some money. It was never an easy task to budget money especially when most of us have greater expenses over their savings.

Celebrity couple Richard Poon and Maricar Reyes-Poon gave some tips on how they managed to budget their money effectively. The couple shared their secret in one of their vlogs on their YouTube channel that answers some problems of their followers. They called their way of budgeting as the system of envelopes.

They advised a young lady who asked help from them to try their own system of envelope wherein you will designate a number of envelopes depending on your expenses. For example, you will have to designate a certain envelope with a word written outside it like “food allowance”, “household bills”, ” house rent”, ” school allowance for the kids”, “savings”, and another envelope for ” miscellaneous expenses”.

Richard Poon revealed that the envelope system he knew was from a very good friend of his, the famous finance speaker and adviser Chinkee Tan.  “Tinuro sa akin ni Chinkee ang mga iyon noong ako ay naglayas sa bahay. Napakahusay, talagang nakakatulong sa akin,” aniya. “Ito talaga ang ginawa ko noong pitong taon akong may utan. Ang ‘system ng sobre,’ tulad ng iminumungkahi ng pangalan, ay isang paraan ng paghiwalay ng iyong pera sa iba’t ibang mga sobre para sa ibat ibang uri ng gastos.”

The couple also advised their followers to know where their money goes for them not to be tempted to use it for their personal expenses or their own wants over needs. True enough that we should always learn to save money because we will never know when you will be needing the money you save not just for yourself but for your family as well.
