We all know that Charice Pempengco, now Jake Zyrus, was discovered because of her powerful voice. She joined Little Big Star and started to gain fame as she made it through third place despite being a wildcard contender.
She was noticed from her online videos and invited to South Korea talent show, Star King, where she amazed the Koreans as she sang “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” and “A Whole New World” with Super Junior member, Kyuhyun.
Charice was later invited by Ellen DeGeneres also after seeing her online videos and afterwards, she started being famous international where she even sang a special duet with Celine Dion at Madison Square.
This coming July 2018, Celine Dion will be having her concert at the Mall of Asia Arena but it seems that the duet who happened before won’t be happening again allegedly because they prefer Charice’s voice before than Jake Zyrus voice today which was affected by males hormones.
Anyway, Celine gave her full support to Charice Pempengco’s transman transition into Jake Zyrus.
“I just wished him the very, very best. I hope that acceptance is hard but we have to… we cannot start by judging because is there a final answer really? If you feel a certain way, you feel that way. We can talk about it, but this is how you feel, and this is how I feel, but this is how Charice felt, and we have to respect that.”
She even recalled when Jake was still Charice in Madison Square Garden way back 2008.
“My jaw is still dislocated because the whole arena was, and I remember, she dedicated her song to her mother. So I think, if I may now switch, I’m pretty sure that ‘he’ remembers dedicating the song to his mother and a big talent,” Celine said.
